The versatility of this area is certainly reflected in a visit to the councils on Voorne and Putten. Past and present go hand in hand in this area. Especially Hellevoetsluis and Brielle have an equally illustrious and interesting history. Many monuments bear witness to this. Hellevoetsluis was once the main naval port of our country! The dry dock built by Jan Blanken certainly deserves a visit. Hellevoetsluis has about 40,000 inhabitants and is the second local authority on Voorne and Putten, in addition to Spijkenisse. As a guest, you can also enjoy the many facilities in these places. Rockanje is the resort of the region with a beautiful and spacious beach at the southern North Sea. In this council, you also have free entry to the dunes. Approximately 7 km away is Brielle, known for the date of April 1st 1572. On that day, Dutch rebels conquered the Spanish king for the first time during the Eighty Years’ War. You really must visit the Dom. There are many steps to take to the top of it. We won’t tell you how many, you have to count them yourself. The villages Zwartewaal, Heenvliet and Geervliet have their own character and especially in the latter two communities, history is still present today. The part Putten is formed by Spijkenisse and the village of Zuidland. In the last decades, Spijkenisse developed to a town of nearly 80,000 residents and has, just like Hellevoetsluis, an attractive shopping centre. Enjoy the beautiful scenery or visit the farms where traditional products are made and sold. On arrival at the campsite you receive the map of the Vereniging Natuurlijk Voorne. The magazine Hier also gives you more information about the environment.
